Flooring Installation in Los Angeles

Flooring is the largest visual surface in your home, and the one that shows every shortcut. Most flooring problems — hollow spots, squeaks, gapping, cracked tile — come from a subfloor that was never properly prepped. We fix what’s underneath first. Flooring is a core part of our home remodeling services.

Choosing the Right Flooring

The best material depends on the room, the traffic, and how much moisture it will see.

  • Engineered hardwood — real wood, more stable
  • Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) — waterproof and durable
  • Porcelain & ceramic tile — baths, kitchens, entries
  • Natural stone — high-end and long-lasting
  • Solid hardwood — classic, refinishable
  • Carpet — comfort in bedrooms

Why Subfloor Prep Matters

A beautiful floor over a bad subfloor will fail. This is where we spend the time others skip.

  • Flattening high and low spots
  • Repairing water-damaged or soft subfloor
  • Correcting squeaks and loose sheathing
  • Moisture testing over concrete slabs
  • Proper underlayment for the material
  • Correct expansion gaps at the perimeter

Flooring Installation FAQs

How much does new flooring cost in Los Angeles?

Installed flooring generally runs about $6 to $16 per square foot for luxury vinyl plank and laminate, $10 to $25 for engineered or solid hardwood, and $12 to $30+ for tile and natural stone. Subfloor repair or leveling, if needed, is additional. We measure and quote in writing so there are no surprises.

What is the most durable flooring for a busy household?

Luxury vinyl plank is hard to beat for households with kids and pets — it is fully waterproof, scratch-resistant, and comfortable underfoot. Porcelain tile is even more durable but harder and colder. Engineered hardwood offers the best balance of durability and the look of real wood.

Can you install new flooring over my existing floor?

Sometimes, but we usually recommend against it. Installing over old flooring hides subfloor problems, raises floor height at doors and transitions, and can void material warranties. We prefer to remove the old floor so we can inspect and correct what’s underneath.

How long does a flooring installation take?

Most homes take about 2 to 5 days depending on square footage, material, and how much subfloor prep is required. Tile takes longer because of setting and grouting time, and some materials need to acclimate in the home for a few days beforehand.

Do I need to move out during installation?

Usually not. We work room by room or zone by zone so you can stay in the home. You will need to clear furniture from the areas being worked on — we can handle moving larger pieces as part of the job.

Why does my current floor squeak or feel hollow?

Almost always a subfloor issue — loose sheathing, inadequate fastening, or an uneven surface that left voids under the flooring. When we install, we re-secure and flatten the subfloor first, which eliminates the vast majority of squeaks and hollow spots.

Is hardwood a good idea in a kitchen or bathroom?

Solid hardwood is risky in genuinely wet areas. Engineered hardwood handles kitchens reasonably well, but for bathrooms and laundry rooms we recommend tile or waterproof luxury vinyl. We’ll steer you toward what will actually hold up.

Do you move furniture and haul away the old flooring?

Yes. We move furniture as part of the job and haul away all old flooring and debris. You come back to finished floors and a clean space.
